Marmot
Marmot

This little guy appeared to be posing for this shot. He was in the area near the visitors center at Hurricane Ridge, part of the Olympic National Park in Washington. The Olympic marmot is only found on the Olympic Peninsula.

Interesting note: when the marmot is in hibernation (for eight to nine months a year), their hearbeat slows from four beats per second to four per minute.
