Lush Kauai

Another view of the Na Pali coastline from the Kalalau Trail - this one showing some of the lush growth along the path. You will recognize plants that you know as houseplants on the mainland, only these are much larger. This area really feels like being in the jungle, or at least my image of it since I have never been in a jungle. Guavas grow along the trail and people frequently pick them. They taste good and smell a little like strawberries but are full of little seeds.

This trail is often very muddy and slippery in places. Hiking boots are helpful in maintaining your footing. Do expect to get muddy on this trek but it is definitely worth it.
